Who is Ruth Stössl?

Ruth Stössl is the Kapo of the Effektenkammer, which later became incorporated into the Kanada work Kommando in Auschwitz. Ruth is a Assozial prisoner due to her homosexuality. She is not Jewish and fears her overthrow by her colleagues. She motivates Franz to treat the inmates with respect and with Willi her lover, they set up the illegal infirmiary during the Typhus outbreak. She also persuades Elena to favour Franz's advances. Her story ends tragically in that she is sent to the gas chamber after she uncovers the fraud of guards pocketing valuables.
